2003–04 Milwaukee Bucks season

The 2003-04 NBA season was the Bucks' 36th season in the NBA.〔(2003-04 Milwaukee Bucks )〕
After the playoff defeat to the New Jersey Nets from last season, Bucks head coach George Karl was let go. The Bucks later announced that former player Terry Porter will be their new head coach for the 2003-04 season.
The Bucks lost several veterans: Gary Payton signed with the Lakers in the off-season, Anthony Mason announced his retirement, Sam Cassell went to the Timberwolves and Tim Thomas mid-season was traded to the New York Knicks for Keith Van Horn.
The season saw the Bucks draft T.J. Ford with the 8th overall pick of the 2003 NBA Draft. Ford enjoyed a solid rookie season but was plagued by injuries and missed most of the season.
Without their rookie for the rest of the season, the Bucks made the playoffs despite a 41-41 record. However, in the first round, it was not meant to be as they would be eliminated in five games by the eventual champion Detroit Pistons.
